LONDON, March 14 — Liverpool rekindled the title race today with a stunning 4-1 defeat of Premier League leaders Manchester United at Old Trafford.

After falling behind to a 23rd-minute Cristiano Ronaldo penalty, Liverpool hit back before halftime through Fernando Torres and a Steven Gerrard spot kick to lead at the break.

United had Nemanja Vidic sent off after 76 minutes and Fabio Aurelio curled in the resulting free kick to make it 3-1 before substitute Andrea Dossena lobbed a fourth in stoppage time to seal a league double for Liverpool over their arch rivals.
United, who were unbeaten in 16 league games and on an 11-match winning streak, still lead the table by four points from Liverpool and have a game in hand. — Reuters
